Affirmed Success Triple Crown legend Affirmed has had wonderful success at stud siring turf runners; namely, Champions Flawlessly, Peteski, Zoman, One From Heaven, Charlie Barley, Bint Pasha, etc. Until July 4th, Affirmed's 6 year old son, Affirmed Success, had made all his 21 starts sprinting on dirt. A winner of nine races including the Vosburgh S. (G1), Cigar Mile (G1), Forego H. (G2) and General George H. (G2), Affirmed Success became a "summer newsmaker" when he made his first start on turf, in the Grade 3 Poker Handicap at Belmont Park, a winning one. Since the 6 year old gelding had struggled in past Breeders' Cup Sprints, his trainer, Rick Schosberg, decided to make the switch with this year's Breeders' Cup Mile as his goal. |
