Down the Aisle

Down the Aisle is another in a long line of successful turf runners from the barn of trainer Bill Mott. This 7 year old son of Runaway Groom has rewarded his owner/breeder, Charles H. Deters, with 18 on-the-board finishes in 19 tries - he was fourth in the Stars & Stripes B.C. Turf (G3).

Down the Aisle had a successful 1997, ending with a second to eventual B.C. Turf winner and Eclipse Award winner, Chief Bearhart, in the Canadian International S. (G1). He missed all of 1998 but came back strong in 1999 with two allowance wins and a third in the King Edward Breeders' Cup H. (G2) at Woodbine.

This year, he looks even stronger, beginning with a victory in the Bougainvillea H. (G3) in March and a third in the Hialeah Turf Cup H. (G3). In June, he surprised with a third place finish in the Brooklyn H. (G2) on dirt, a surface he last raced on in March 1996 and recently won Monmouth's United Nations Handicap (G1T), which is back to it's original name although no longer run at Atlantic City.

That's My Hon, who died this year, has produced 8 foals. Down the Aisle is her only stakes winner, and her last foal is an unraced two year old chestnut filly by Theatrical (Ire) named Madeline P.
