Affirmed is led into the sun to show off his magnificent copper coat for us in the spring of 1997 at Jonabell Farm. He is the last horse to win the Triple Crown, accomplishing that task in 1978. Affirmed was later retired to stand next to his arch rival, Alydar, at Calumet. Affirmed was sold when the historic farm began experiencing financial trouble and lived his final years at Jonabell Farm where he continued to draw visits from fans 22 years after his retirement until his death at age 26. Affirmed died and was buried in his owners colors of pink, black and white at Jonabell Farm on January 12, 2001. For more pictures and information on Affirmed, go to our Photo Index.
