Gilded Time - 1992 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Winner Gilded Time battled with River Special at the top of the lane and later held off the late charge of Itsali'lknownfact to win the Juvenile and capture the 2-year-old Championship of 1992. Gilded Time is the only Juvenile winner to finish in the money in another Breeders' Cup race (3rd in the 1993 Sprint to Cardmania and Meafara). Favorite Trick will attempt to better that record, seeking to win the Mile this year after winning the Juvenile in 1997.

1993 Juvenile Fillies Winner - Phone Chatter Won the 1993 Juvenile Fillies in time 1:43 at Santa Anita under Laffit Pincay, Jr. Trained by Richard Mandella and owned by Herman Sarkowsky. Champion 2-year-old Filly of 1993. Phone Chatter is by Phone Trick who is the sire of 1997 Horse of the Year, Favorite Trick (winner of the 1997 Juvenile). Phone Trick is the only horse to sire winners of both the Juvenile and Juvenile Fillies in the 14-year history of the Breeders' Cup.

Cardmania - 1993 Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Cardmania joined a select few geldings who have won a Breeders' Cup race. Three geldings have won the Sprint (Thirty Slews, Cardmania and Elmhurst), one gelding has won the Turf (Great Communicator) and one gelding won the Mile (Da Hoss). Da Hoss is attempting a second win in the mile this year.

1994 Breeders' Cup Mile winner - Barathea Barathea will be represented at Churchill Downs this year in the Juvenile when his son, Red Sea, attempts to upset the strong American contingent. The last foreign invader to capture the Juvenile was Arazi, winning the Juvenile at Churchill Downs in 1991.

Lady's Secret - 1986 Breeders' Cup Distaff winner The most accomplished daughter of the great Secretariat. Lady's Secret captured eight Grade 1 races in 1986, capping the year off with an easy win in the Breeders' Cup Distaff. This performance gained her the coveted Horse of the Year honor. Lady's Secret is scheduled to be sold in the Keeneland November sale starting November 8, the day after the Breeders' Cup.

1995 Breeders' Cup Turf winner - Northern Spur This son of Saddler's Wells won the 1995 Turf in time 2:42. Northern Spur fought hard down the lane to capture the race by a neck on a very soft turf course at Belmont Park under Chris McCarron, giving his owner, Charles Cella, his very first Breeders' Cup victory. Champion Grass Male of 1995. Stands at Longfield Farm.

Alphabet Soup - 1996 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Alphabet Soup stopped Cigar from winning his second Classic when Cigar finished a disappointing third. Skip Away will attempt to be the first horse to win back-to-back Classics. He will have to beat one of the most talented fields ever assembled for the Breeders' Cup Classic to do so.
